
The Department of Environmental Studies, College of Arts and
Sciences offers
a master of science degree in environmental studies
with a concentration in
biological management. The program is
designed to prepare student participants
in areas of forestry,
agroforestry, and environmental education, and for Volunteer
and
development activities generally. The MIP consists of a minimum of 36
semester units of academic study, in which 20 of the units are
expected to
be completed before students begin their Peace Corps
assignments. Courses
will cover issues such as: restoration Ecology,
sustainable development, environmental
resource policy, environment
and development, tropical forest conservation
and protected area
management.
Benefits
Students may earn up to six credits for their Peace Corps Volunteer
service.
Requirements
GRE
scores of 1000 or higher, OR minimum 3.0 GPA; 3 letters of
recommendation;
and a short (1-2 page) statement of research
interests and intent.
