The Master's International (MI) Program at Boston University (BU) aims to provide
practical public health research, management and training skills to students for
immediate application in Peace Corps service. The joint program is an ideal way
to earn a master of public health (MPH) degree while gaining the international
experience necessary to develop a career in the competitive field of international
health.
With careful planning, the MPH degree can be completed in three
full-time semesters (one calendar year). There are seven concentrations to choose
from within the School of Public Health: international health (IH), maternal and
child health, epidemiology and biostatistics, environmental health, health services,
social and behavioral sciences, and health law. Courses within the IH concentration
are designed to provide skills that are both practical and relevant to the developing
country environment. In addition, MI students will meet many mid-career health
professionals from developing countries both within the concentration and through
the IH Department's certificate programs. Relevant experience in some field of
health is helpful, but not required.
Benefits
Up to 8 credits for Peace Corps service; financial aid and favorable
loan
terms are also available with priority access to Perkins Loans.
Certificate
courses are offered at a reduced tuition rate.
Requirements
Relevant experience in some field of health is desired but not
required.
To apply, a completed MPH application, official transcripts, a
personal statement,
three letters of assessment, GRE scores (GMAT,
LSAT or MCAT scores are also
acceptable) and an application fee are required.
